FAQ

What is an associate photographer?

Myckenzie Russell Photography & Co includes my team of highly talented and intuitive photographers. Becasue I am only able to take on a limited number of weddings each year with travel, my associates are assigned to smaller weddings, elopements, and sessions. All of my associates are trained and shoot like myself. All editing, post production work, and communication is through me.

Do you charge for travel?

Yes, for weddings outside of St. Augustine Florida. You will receive a full travel estimate in your initial quote. Travel is expensive (especially these days), and I do my best to keep these costs at a minimum. For destination weddings it is important that I arrive the day before to prepare for potential travel interruptions. I also include mileage and time when calculating my travel costs.

How do we get our date booked?

When you're ready to get your date booked, you will get a digital contract and invoice via email. Once the contract is signed and the invoice is paid, I am all yours!

Do you travel? What is the fee?

I travel all over Florida for my couples. Travel fees depend on the location and will be quoted to you when you inquire.

How many pictures do we get?

Every wedding is unique, but on average you will receive 50-100 images per hour of coverage in your gallery.

Are you insured?

Absolutely, I carry limited liability insurance up to $2,000,000. Please let me know if your venue needs me to send over my information.

How and when do we get our images?

You will receive a digital gallery of 25-30 sneak peak images. Within 8-12 weeks of your wedding date, you will get a full online gallery of all of your edited images. However, this is usually more like 4-6 weeks depending on the season of your wedding.

Have you shot at our venue before? (and does that matter?)

I shoot at a wide variety of venues every weekend, with the majority of them being new venues. For wedding photographers, stepping into a new venue is no different than a venue we have shot at hundreds of times before. In fact, we tend to like new venues more because it gives us a fresh perspective.

Do we need a second shooter?

If your budget allows it, and photography is a big priority to you, I highly recommend adding on my second shooter. A second shooter gives us more flexibility in the timeline, and you will receive more images in your gallery. It will also allow for additional cocktail hour and reception footage. A second shooter is an additional add on to all collections and needs to be arranged at the time of booking.

What is your method of photography?

On the wedding day, I prefer to shoot a good mix of directed/posed shots with candid natural shots. While I tend to stand back and capture the natural parts of the wedding day, I also step in to direct the more formal parts of the day (couples portraits, family photos, ect). I would say that I am very directive behind the camera, and usually keep the day flowing based on the shots we have previously discussed.

Is there a retainer/deposit?

A 50% retainer is required at the time of booking when you sign your contract. Your remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding. This can be paid online through your invoice using a credit/debit card.

How many hours of coverage do we need?

8 hours of coverage is the most commonly booked collection of mine. Most weddings require at least 8 hours of coverage to have adequate time to capture all of the ongoings. For example, if you plan on capture the getting ready process, bridal party, couples portraits, ceremony, and reception, I would recommend 8 hours.

Where are you based?

St. Augustine Florida.

How do you accept payment?

You are able to easily make your payments through your online invoice using a debit or credit card.

What happens if you can't make it to our wedding?

If something unforeseen happens and I am unable to make it to your wedding, I have a trusted team of backup associate photographers that will fill in for me.
